Bomb Threat to Cerritos College Results in Shelter-in-Place on Campus

Cerritos College was issued a shelter-in-place order on Tuesday after a bomb threat was reported near the campus.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, parking lots 3 and 4 on campus were considered to be areas of concern. A tweet from LASD reported that all areas of concern had been evacuated. Further evacuations continued at approximately 2 pm, with certain areas remaining on lockdown, according to the college’s Facebook page.

According to the Cerritos College Talon Marks Student Newspaper’s twitter account, college president Jose Fierro reported that the threat was reported at approximately 12 pm, and the suspect, who reportedly concealed the threat in a backpack, had been arrested by officials. Classes for the day have been canceled as well, according to the TM twitter account.
